# Market Research Skill

Help authors understand their market and position their books for success.

## Comp Title Analysis
- Find 3-5 comparable titles in the same genre/subgenre
- Analyze: cover style, blurb structure, pricing, reviews, ranking
- Identify what readers love and hate about comps
- Find the gap your book fills

## Genre Trend Analysis
- Current bestseller patterns in the target genre
- Emerging subgenres and tropes
- What's oversaturated vs. underserved
- Seasonal patterns (romance in Feb, horror in Oct, etc.)

## Pricing Strategy
- Genre-appropriate price points
- Launch pricing vs. regular pricing
- Series pricing strategy (loss leader book 1)
- KDP Select vs. wide distribution considerations

## Reader Expectations
- Must-have tropes for the genre
- Deal-breaker elements readers avoid
- Cover design expectations
