# Sentaurus TCAD VM Control Skill

Controls the Sentaurus TCAD simulation environment running on a CentOS virtual machine via SSH.

## Environment Configuration

### VM Information
- **IP Address**: `$SENTAURUS_VM_IP` (static)
- **Username**: `$SENTAURUS_VM_USER`
- **SSH Port**: 22
- **Project Path**: `$STDB/`

### SSH Configuration
- SSH Key: `$SENTAURUS_VM_KEY`
- Quick Connect: `ssh -i $SENTAURUS_VM_KEY $SENTAURUS_VM_USER@$SENTAURUS_VM_IP`

## Python Environment

## Running Projects via Deck API

### Basic Code

## Key Issues and Solutions

### ⚠️ Issue 1: gtooldb.tcl Configuration (Most Important!)

**Error**: `KeyError: "Key 'sprocess,acronym' not found in DBToolContext"`

**Cause**: Project uses custom tool names (e.g., NMOS, DevMesh) that need mapping to actual tools.

**Solution**: Create `gtooldb.tcl` file:
```tcl
# Load global tool database
source $SENTAURUS_HOME/tcad/$SENTAURUS_VERSION/lib/glib2/tooldb.tcl

# Map custom tool names to actual tools
set WB_tool(NMOS,sprocess) sprocess
set WB_tool(DevMesh,sprocess) sprocess
set WB_tool(IdVg,sdevice) sdevice
set WB_tool(IdVd,sdevice) sdevice
set WB_tool(BV,sdevice) sdevice
set WB_tool(Plot_IdVg,svisual) svisual
set WB_tool(Plot_IdVd,svisual) svisual
set WB_tool(Plot_BV,svisual) svisual
```

### ⚠️ Issue 2: File Suffix Format

**Important**: Sentaurus tools use specific file suffix formats:
- sprocess: `{toolname}_fps.cmd` (e.g., NMOS_fps.cmd)
- sdevice: `pp{node}_des.cmd`
- sde: `n{node}_dvs.cmd`

Not `{toolname}_sprocess.cmd` or `{toolname}_sdevice.cmd`

### ⚠️ Issue 3: Headless Operation

**Set QT_QPA_PLATFORM**:

export QT_QPA_PLATFORM=offscreen
```

## Running Commands

### Execute Python via SSH

## Monitoring Simulation Status

### Check Node Status File
```bash
cat results/nodes/7/n7_fps.sta
```

### View Output Log
```bash
tail -f results/nodes/7/n7_fps.out
```

### View Generated Files
```bash
ls -la results/nodes/7/*.tdr
```

### Check Process
```bash
ps aux | grep sprocess
```

## Testing Notes

### 2026-03-15 Project Test
1. Created gtooldb.tcl to resolve tool mapping issue
2. `gsub -n 7` successfully started sprocess
3. sprocess running normally, generated n7_1_fps.tdr, n7_2_fps.tdr
4. Simulation still in progress (PID 38946)
