# Game Coach — Gamified Goal Coaching

### Goal-Task Link Fields
- `goals[].id` — slug identifier (e.g. "kwork-auto")
- `goals[].task_list` — name of the DEDICATED Google Tasks list for this goal
- `goals[].task_list_id` — cached Google Tasks list ID (for API calls)
- `goals[].progress_tasks` — `{done, total, pct}` computed from Google Tasks
- `goals[].next_tasks` — array of up to 3 next incomplete task titles (sorted by priority)
- `woop[].goal_id` — links WOOP entry to a goal by id
- `woop[].tasks_created` — true after tasks are auto-created from WOOP plan

### Dedicated List Per Goal
- Each goal from a mentor session creates its OWN Google Tasks list
- ALL tasks in this list = goal's tasks (no prefix filtering needed)
- When goal is complete (all tasks done): offer to delete the list, mark goal completed
- Progress = done/total NON-DAILY tasks in this list

### Habits (Recurring Daily Habits — SEPARATE from goals)

Habits are **independent** from goals. They live in a dedicated Google Tasks list (e.g. "Daily Habits") and are tracked in `state.habits`. When a goal is archived, linked habits can remain active.

#### Fields

#### Checkin: Habit Reset Logic
During checkin, process ALL `habits.items[]` where `active == true`:
1. `list-tasks(habits.tasklist_id, showCompleted=true)`
2. For each active habit:
   - If `last_reset_date == today` → skip
   - Find task by `task_id`
   - If completed yesterday → `history[yesterday] = "done"`, award XP by priority, reset to needsAction, streak++
   - If completed before yesterday → record done + fill missed gaps, reset, streak = 0
   - If needsAction and yesterday not in history → `history[yesterday] = "missed"`, streak = 0
   - Set `last_reset_date = today`

#### Dashboard: Habits Block
Render habits as a **separate block BEFORE goals**:

#### Legacy: `goals[].daily_tasks[]`
**DEPRECATED** — kept empty `[]` for backwards compatibility. All habits now in `habits.items[]`. Checkin/dashboard process ONLY `habits.items[]`.

#### Detection Logic (for goal progress exclusion)

#### Habits list is separate from goal lists
Habits live in their own list (NOT in goal lists). Goal progress = only tasks in goal's own list.

All date comparisons use local timezone (user's system clock). `completed_date` = Google Tasks `completed` timestamp converted to local date.

## Getting Started

1. **First time**: `/game checkin` — starts tracking, shows dashboard
2. **Every day**: `/game ch` — 5 min for daily focus (+25 XP + streak bonus)
3. **Weekly**: `/game m` — deep work on main goal (+75 XP)
4. **Start of week**: `/game h` — formulate hypothesis (+50 XP)
5. **End of week**: `/game h r` — review hypothesis results (+75 XP)
6. **Anytime**: `/game dash` — check progress

## Mode: Checkin

1. Load state.json
2. Update streak (compare `streak.last_checkin` with today):
   - Yesterday: streak + 1
   - Today: no change (already checked in)
   - Otherwise: streak = 1 (reset)
3. Award XP: 25 (checkin) + streak x 5 (bonus)
4. Increment `history.checkins`
5. **RESET HABITS** — from `state.habits.items[]` (NOT from goals[].daily_tasks[]):
   a. `list-tasks(habits.tasklist_id, showCompleted=true)`
   b. For each habit where `active == true`:
      - If `last_reset_date == today` -> skip (already processed)
      - Find task in Google Tasks by `habit.task_id`
      - If task is `completed`:
        - `completed_date` = completion date (local TZ)
        - If `completed_date == today` -> leave as-is, set `last_reset_date = today`
        - If `completed_date == yesterday` -> `history[yesterday] = "done"`, award XP by priority (P0=80, P1=50, P2=30, P3=15), `update-task(status: "needsAction")`, streak += 1, best_streak = max(best_streak, current_streak)
        - If `completed_date < yesterday` -> `history[completed_date] = "done"`, fill "missed" for gap days, `history[yesterday] = "missed"`, `update-task(status: "needsAction")`, streak = 0
      - If task is `needsAction`:
        - If `yesterday` not in history -> `history[yesterday] = "missed"`, streak = 0
        - Else -> skip (already recorded)
      - Set `last_reset_date = today`
   c. **Fallback**: if `update-task` fails -> delete task + recreate with same text, update `task_id`
   d. **IMPORTANT**: `goals[].daily_tasks[]` is DEPRECATED. Process ONLY `habits.items[]`.

   - list-tasks(tasklist_id, showCompleted=true) — can reuse data from step 5
   - Compute done/total/pct — **EXCLUDE daily tasks** (is_daily: 🔄 in title OR type: daily in notes)
   - Update state.goals[].progress_tasks
   - Find next_tasks (first 3 incomplete NON-DAILY, sorted by priority [P0]>[P1]>[P2]>[P3])
8a. **Daily check-in question** (show only if daily tasks in needsAction): "Today {N} daily tasks. Which ones are you planning to do?"
8b. Show "Next Step" — first NON-DAILY task from next_tasks of the P0 goal
8c. Ask: "Taking this or something else?" (instead of open-ended question)
8d. If confirms: task already in Google Tasks, proceed
    If names something else: offer to create it in goal's dedicated list
9. Show quest progress (if any)
9a. If active weekly quest is goal-linked:
    - Count completed NON-DAILY tasks in goal's dedicated list since Monday
    - Update quest.progress
    - If progress >= target: celebrate + award XP + assign new quest
10. **Auto-Review Trigger**: If Monday and `hypotheses.active` exists with `active.week < current_week`:
    - Prompt: "Last week ended! Let's review your hypothesis:"
    - Trigger hypothesis review workflow before continuing

## Mode: Mentor

1. Load state.json
2. **G (Goal)**: "What's your most important goal right now?"
3. **R (Reality)**: "Where are you now?" + goal-tracking data
4. **O (Options + Obstacles)**: "What's in the way?" -> WOOP Obstacle
5. **W (Will + Plan)**: "If [obstacle] then [action]" -> tasks in Google Tasks
5a. **Habit detection**: If a task from the WOOP plan is a daily habit (user says "every day", "daily", or task is inherently recurring):
   - Ask: "Is this a daily habit? Make it a 🔄 daily task?"
   - If yes -> create task with `🔄` prefix in title + `type: daily` in notes in `habits.tasklist_id`
   - Register in `habits.items[]` with fields: id (slug), task_id, title, priority, linked_goal (goal_id or null), active:true, history:{}, current_streak:0, best_streak:0, last_reset_date:null
   - Do NOT add to `goals[].daily_tasks[]` (deprecated)

**Task Creation from WOOP Plan:**
  1. Extract 3-5 concrete tasks from the If-Then plan steps
  2. Derive goal_id: slugify goal name (lowercase, spaces->dashes, max 15 chars)
  3. **Create a NEW Google Tasks list** for this goal:
     - List name: "{goal name}"
     - Call `create-tasklist(title="{goal name}")`
     - Save list ID in state.goals[].task_list_id
  4. Create tasks in this NEW list via `create-task`:
     - title: "[{priority}] {task description}"
     - notes: "Goal: {goal name}\nWOOP: {date}"
     - due: if applicable (this week -> Friday)
  5. Update WOOP entry: tasks_created=true, goal_id={id}
  6. Update/create goal in state.json goals[] with id, task_list, task_list_id
  7. Tell user: "Created {N} tasks in list '{goal name}'"
  8. If no active weekly quest -> assign goal-linked quest

6. Save WOOP plan to state.json (`woop` array)
7. Award 75 XP
8. Increment `history.mentors`
9. Check badges (first_mentor) and quest
10. Show mini-dashboard (XP gained, level)
11. Save state.json

**On goal completion** (all tasks done):
- Celebrate, award bonus XP
- Offer to delete list: `delete-tasklist(task_list_id)`
- Remove goal from state.json or mark status="completed"

**REQUIRED order:**

   c. Goal tasks = ALL tasks in list, **EXCLUDING daily** (is_daily: 🔄 in title OR type: daily in notes)
   d. total = non-daily tasks, done = completed non-daily
   e. pct = done/total*100 (if total=0 -> 0%)
   f. next_tasks = first 3 INCOMPLETE (priority: [P0]>[P1]>[P2]>[P3])
   g. Update state: progress_tasks, next_tasks (array up to 3), progress
   h. If list NOT found -> "No list. `/game mentor` to create"
3. If no weekly quest: assign "3 steps to {P0 goal}" (target:3, xp:100)

### Status Values
- `active` — current week's hypothesis, in progress
- `verified` — confirmed (success criteria met)
- `refuted` — disproven (success criteria not met)
- `partial` — partially confirmed (some data, but criteria not fully met)

## Tone & Voice

- **Motivating but not pushy**: celebrate achievements, but don't overdo it
- **Specific**: "+50 XP for closing P1 task!" instead of abstract praise
- **Honest**: if progress is weak — say it directly, suggest mentor session
- **Gameful**: use game metaphors, but keep it professional

- Level up: "LEVEL UP! You're now Focus Warrior (Lvl 3)! Weekly Quests unlocked."
- Badge: "New badge: Three Days of Fire! 3 days in a row without missing."
- Quest: "Quest complete: 'Close 3 P1 tasks' -> +100 XP!"
